Applied R&D
The market will reward businesses and nonprofits that generate positive impact and avoid negative impact-- if it can see that this is happening. We believe that the practices that allow this information to be visible to the markets represent an emerging management discipline. We call it "impact management."
Since 2001 SVT Group has done applied research and development work with clients to facilitate the discovery, development and adoption of approaches to impact management. Mission & Vision
Make It Rain. Rain is the primary source of fresh water for most areas of the world. Rain enables diverse ecosystems to flourish, food to grow, bodies to be healthy, and power to be generated. Rain is what happens when evaporated moisture hits a tipping point, condenses into droplets, and falls back to Earth. When there is not enough humidity in the air, rain can't reach the Earth because it evaporates before it touches down.
We see this as a metaphor for the global economy today. Rain is the social, natural and financial capital and humidity is the health, well-being and sustainability of people and nature. Unfortunately when only financial return is considered by managers and investors, places that once had plenty of rain go dry, and the rain that falls doesn't reach the ground, while in other places there is too much rain and people drown. We believe that when people have the skills, tools and information to consider social and environmental as well as financial return, they will create enterprises that ensure there is enough rain for everybody.
At any given time, precipitation covers only about 2% to 5% of the surface of the Earth. Likewise, our goal is to catalyze the adoption of impact management practices by 2% to 5% of the world's enterprises. We believe when this occurs the rest will follow.
